“I wrote my business administration thesis on 3D printing”
“I left El Salvador to study Business Administration in Germany. During university I got a side-job at a Fablab where I was in charge of cleaning and setting up Makerbots and other 3D printers. I also got the chance to build my own kit there. I loved it so much that I decided to write my bachelor thesis about 3D printing at BigRep.
As my co-workers and I got along very well I was offered a job at BigRep after finishing my studies. I currently have a purchasing position in which I’m in charge of purchasing everything that the company needs internally, for prototypes, IT as well as the office in general. Our printers are quite special, because we scale up the desktop printer and we speed up the whole process. With a volume of more than 1m³, the BigRep ONE is the largest FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) printer currently available on the world market.
It’s also pretty hard to create these types of printers, as scaling up the printer also means scaling up the problems. Despite this, our printers are very reliable. I also like that BigRep is so open-minded. Although I don’t have an engineering degree, I’m given time in the week to work on R&D and internal development. I don’t think many other companies would be willing to provide so much freedom. My biggest accomplishment so far is the liquid for first layer adhesion I’m currently developing. That’s something that truly makes me want to jump out of bed every morning.”
